An early picture of Ernie Funston who was instrumental in starting construction of the Amaruk Golf Club. Ernie was tragically killed in a helicopter accident and didn't get to see the fruits of his labor.

This weekend the Ernie Funston Memorial was held. The weather was ideal and some scores (George Cabot's) reflected the conditions. Though Ernie only had one arm it didn't stop him from enjoying golf and having a vision of a golf club in Happy Valley and we are glad that he did, thanks Ernie.

The tournament crowns a handicap champion who is up there with the club champion in the eyes of the members. This year's champion George Cabot capped a great season for himself having made two provincial teams and just missing being club champion. Well done George!

In the last group this year and challenging George for the championship was Barry Keough and Dusty Miller. Dusty ended the day only 9 shots back and both he and Barry enjoyed the round and the shot making by George who shot an one under 70.
