Adam Stanley 2007 Premiers Cup Champion

The 3rd Annual Premiers Cup was played Canada Day weekend at the newly renovated the Woods at Southlands in St. John's.
The limited field event hosts the province’s best golfers based on 2006 provincial results.
The manicured challenging par 71 layout was a tough test to some of the provinces best amateur golfers, facing tough fast greens and windy conditions for both days of the competition, with only 5 players breaking 80 for the first day of competition.
The first round saw Adam Stanley of Bally Haly Golf Club set the new competitive course record after firing a very impressive round of even par 71. The 2006 defending champion Chuck Conley from the Amaruk Golf Club in Goose Bay, Labrador was close behind with a 3 over par round of 74. Jimmy Tee from Clovelly Golf Club was next at 76, followed by Eddie Bearns of Bally Haly at 77.
Stronger winds and higher scores were the order of the day on Sunday, with 1st round leader Adam Stanley shooting a score of 81. Chuck Conley and Eddie Bearns both made up ground with scores of 78. but Adam Stanley made an impressive birdie on the par 5 18th hole to force a playoff with Chuck Conley. Both players finished with two day total of 152, ten over par.
Jimmy Tee and Eddie Bearns tied for 3rd at 155, but it was 15 year old Devin Pittman from Goose Bay who showed his game by shooting the low round of the day a 76, to take home the low junior title. Devin heads to Gander later this week to participate in the 2007 NLGA Junior Championship.
The playoff between Chuck Conley and Adam Stanley took place on the tough uphill Number 1 hole, with Adam Stanley winning with a par on the hole to become the 2007 Premiers Cup Champion.
